Overview

About Indiranagar

Indiranagar was developed as a planned BDA layout in the 1970s, organised into stages with wide roads and generous plots. For its first two decades it was a quiet residential suburb of independent houses.

That changed as commercial development took over 100 Feet Road and 12th Main, turning Indiranagar into Bangalore's most concentrated F&B and boutique-retail district. The Purple Line Metro station on CMH Road added rail connectivity to the city centre and eastwards to Whitefield. Today the residential stock is a mix of remaining independent houses, older apartments and premium redevelopment, at some of the highest per-square-foot pricing in the city.

FAQ

Indiranagar — frequently asked questions

Does Indiranagar have metro connectivity?

Yes — the Namma Metro Purple Line has an operational Indiranagar station on CMH Road, connecting the district to MG Road, Majestic and Whitefield.

Why is Indiranagar so expensive?

It combines a central-east location, operational metro, the city's densest lifestyle and F&B cluster, and effectively no land for new development — supply comes only from redevelopment.

Is Indiranagar still a good residential area given the commercialisation?

The inner residential stages remain sought-after, but streets close to 100 Feet Road and 12th Main carry significant commercial traffic and noise. Micro-location within the layout matters a great deal here.
